We have found an excellent way to add style and character to our product line with our Crystal-Crete recycled glass surfaces.
Crystal-Crete, is a combination of crushed 100% recycled glass and our existing high quality mixes. With either a clear or coloured glass throughout our engineered mix, we grind the surface creating somewhat of a 'terrazzo' effect and therefore transforming it into a new look, quite different than any other type of natural or engineered stone on the market. Rich, elegant, beautiful, stunning, unique....there are so many ways to describe the look of this product, but you must see it for yourself in person to get the real effect.
Our main focus with the Crystal-Crete surfaces, is to achieve a stunning new product with a sustainable cause. The binder of cement alone is not a 100% environmentally-friendly product but, considering all things, the waste factor is extremely less than other materials such as granite, quartz or marble. Concrete does not have to be quarried out of the earth and shipped halfway across the world to your kitchen, but can be processed locally. Our manufacturing methods are kept as efficient and waste-free as possible. Instead of fabricating out of large sheets creating an excess of extra wasted product which is passed on to the consumer, we prefer to custom manufacture each piece, thus keeping less waste out of the landfills and more money in the consumers pocket. (Although we can also manufacture slabs for future fabrication of stocking dealers.) We are constantly reusing forming materials and we try to keep the amount of water we use in our polishing process to a minimum. With all this said we are now stepping it up a notch by adding an extra recycled component to our mixes.
We use approxiamtely 75% recycled materials in our standard Crystal-Crete mix formula to meet and exceed standards of "Green" programs for recycled glass countertops. Post-consumer recycled glass and marble agregate make up the depth and character within each peice along with many options of integral colours or stains. Another thing to consider, is the fact that they are manufactured in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. With that being said, unlike similar imported products, we have less transportation costs to pass on (comparing to most other stones), not too mention the large carbon footprints left behind from imported products, and we can complete the project in a timely manner.
Just like our existing products, we are not just limited to counter tops though. We can still make the same fireplace mantels, tiles, furniture, etc...
If you have any questions please feel free to call or emailus for more information.
